The first TF-70SC medium torque capacity FWD 6-speed AT for delivery to PSA PEUGEOT CITROEN rolled off the production line at Tahara Plant on June 15, 2009, and a ceremony was held to mark the milestone.

AW has received the Best Supplier Award from Shanghai GM Corporation Limited (Shanghai GM) in recognition of its efforts in the areas of quality, cost, and delivery.

AW Received for the first time the Excellent Supplier Award from Dongfeng Motor Passenger Vehicle Company in Dongfeng Motor Corporation Group in recognition of its contribution to the development of the first AT for the automaker’s Own Car brand.

On October 29, four students at a Japanese school in Hangzhou, China, visited AW HANGZHOU SOFTWARE DDEVEROPMENT CO.,LTD.(AW Hangzhou), where they learned how program creation and confirmation of proper operation in a simulator play a role in the development of AT ECU software. On October 24, 18 AW Hangzhou employees accompanied by their families and others participated in a sports festival held at a local Japanese school. The group helped build deeper relationships with the local community while enjoying competitive events such as tamaire, a game where participants try to throw as many stuffed balls as possible into a basket on top of a pole, and 10 types of relay race.

AW MAINTENANCE CO., LTD., held a commemorative ceremony as the first one-way pallet manufactured using automated welding processes rolled off the production line.

TIANJIN AW AUTOMATIC TRANSMISSION CO., LTD., received ISO 14001 environmental management system certification.

Total car navigation system production at AW EUROPE S.A. has reached 500,000 units.

AW TRANSMISSION ENGINEERING U.S.A., INC. received the Toyota Quality Alliance Gold Award from Toyota Motor Sales U.S.A.,Inc.

AW joined AISIN SEIKI CO., LTD. in exhibiting at the 16th ITS World Congress, which was held from September 21 to 25 in Stockholm, Sweden.
This year, the company’s presence included a presentation of six car navigation system models and the screening of several videos detailing its ITS-related technologies. AW further publicized its latest ITS technologies by presenting a research paper.

AW joined AISIN SEIKI CO., LTD. ; AISIN EUROPE S.A.; AISIN AI CO., LTD.; AISIN AI EUROPE GmbH; AW EUROPE S.A.; and AW TECHNICAL CENTER EUROPE S.A. in exhibiting at IAA 2009, which was held from September 15 to 27* in Frankfurt, Germany.
The company’s exhibits included three AT models as well as CVT, 4WD hybrid transmission, and car navigation systems as it worked with partner companies to actively promote its products.

AW joined AISIN SEIKI CO., LTD.; AISIN CHEMICAL CO., LTD.; and ADVICS CO., LTD., in exhibiting at the 4th World Tribology Congress 2009 Technical Exhibition, held from September 7 to 11 in Kyoto, Japan. AW exhibited a hybrid transmission, AWD 8-speed AT, and CVT.

Kuniyuki Hashimoto of the Machinery and Tools Department and nine other employees received the Minister of Economy, Trade and Industry Prize at the Third Monozukuri Nippon Grand Awards for conceiving and implementing a project entitled “Chinese AT Assembly Line,” in which they brought to overseas facilities an unpowered AT production line based on the concept of a falling well bucket.

TOYOTA MOTOR CORPORATION’s i-REAL, an innovative personal transportation device featuring a wheel motor system developed by AW, was displayed at Central Japan International Airport (“Centrair”). The deployment marks the start of an experiment intended to demonstrate the device’s suitability for guidance and security applications.

AW’s 41st Annual General Meeting of Shareholders and a Board of Directors meeting were held on June 12 with agenda items including business reports and the election of new directors. Newly elected directors include one Senior Managing Director, one Managing Director, two Directors, one Full-time Auditor; previously a Senior Managing Director, one Statutory Auditor. The new management team consists of 32 executives, including one newly promoted Senior Managing Director and two newly promoted Managing Directors.

AW has been honored by Dr.Ing.h.c.F.Porsche AG (Porsche) as Supplier of the Year 2008, the highest honor bestowed at the manufacturer’s annual supplier awards. The award marks the second time that AW, which received the Supplier Award 2003 in 2004, has ranked among Porsche’s top ten suppliers, and the first time that a Japanese company has received the highest supplier award.
