Aisin Group to Exhibit at 22nd ITS World Congress 2015 in Bordeaux

The five Aisin Group companies*1 including Aisin AW Co., Ltd. will jointly present seven papers and exhibit products and technologies at the “22nd ITS World Congress 2015 in Bordeaux ,” which will be held at Congrès et Expositions de Bordeaux in Bordeaux, France from Monday, October 5 to Friday, October 9, 2015.
The theme of our exhibit is: “Human-Friendly Mobility” to create a comfortable, enjoyable and sustainable community.
AW will present a paper titled “Drive assist information notification systemConsideration of the method for abstracting routes to be monitored and the best method for notification.” At our booth, AW will exhibit the “map auto creation system which immediately reflects new roads” and a video on the “collision risk prediction and warning system using vehicle system and video information,” introducing its high technological capability.
During the showcase (outdoor demonstration) program held near the exhibit venue, we will use actual vehicles on a course simulating road conditions in Europe to demonstrate technologies that the Aisin Group companies are developing in order to contribute to automated driving using driver monitoring systems, navigation systems, parking assist systems, etc.
At our exhibition booth, under the theme of “Human-Friendly Mobility,” an important aim of the Aisin Group, we will exhibit a driving simulator to enable visitors to simulate the three solutions of “unobtrusive, equal and seamless,” “safe for everyone” and “exciting.” Visitors will be able to simulate the next-generation HMI*2, automatic parking, AR*3 guidance, integrated vehicle control, etc.
Furthermore, a parking assist system that also helps drivers with parking with a quick turn of the wheel and parallel parking departure using an ultrasonic sensor and a camera, and a system to automatically create new road information from the running data of vehicles that have passed will be introduced with videos and panels.

*2 Human Machine Interface, e.g.: interfaces connecting humans and devices such as car navigation systems, display devices and interfaces that accept requests from users
*3 Augmented Reality. Technology that adds information by superimposing characters, illustrations, etc. on real landscapes displayed on the screen of an information instrument

Overview of a demonstration car during the showcase program

Demonstrations during the showcase program

①Automatically pulling the vehicle over to the side of the road in cooperation with the driver monitoring system

Detecting inability of the driver to drive and automatically pulling the vehicle over to the side of the road

②Protecting pedestrians at an intersection

Detecting pedestrians near the exit of a roundabout and notifying the driver accordingly

③Automatically updating navigation system map information

Detecting the occurrence of an accident based on emergency information notification from vehicles ahead, predicting traffic jams and closed roads, and encouraging the driver to change the route

④Remote control parking

Automatically parking a car with no person in it using a smartphone at a narrow place where it is hard for people to get in/out of the car
